On Fri., Feb. 24, 100th day, delayed a few times because of South Dakota winter, was finally celebrated. Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Eckmann hid 100 numbered Starbursts around the classroom, and as students found them, they marked them off a chart. Kindergarteners Sophia Browning, Tripp Glanzer, Maverick Hanson, Kyren Thennis, Isabelle Rose, Savannah Driggers and Ella Strickler wait in line to mark off the Starburst number on the hundred chart. 
Celebrating 100(ish) days
This week was Iroquois’s FFA week. Students enjoyed dressing up for dress-up days, hosting an elementary school coloring contest, driving tractors to school, reading agricultural books to elementary students and competing in Ag Olympics and a bean bag tournament.  Coloring contest winners were: Preschool: Luke Bechen, Mikayla Keating Kindergarten: Daxton Frankfurt, Kaebrey Brown First grade: Jaxon Bakke, Aubrey DeJong Second grade: Collyn Miller, Bekah Dunsworth Third grade: Taten Meidinger, Cassidy Lawton Rose Fourth grade: Symphony Barth, Peyton Eckhardt Fifth grade: Ali Rowcliffe, Emmet Dinsworth Bean bag tournament winners were Lucas Peskey and Rexton Blue. Dakota Feige drove his tractor to school on Thursday. Also pictured are Cash Kuel, Kali Burma, Adison Moore, Kera Dubro, Shelby Pekron and Andrew Gednalske. 
FFA Week brings out friendly competition
Iroquois Elementary library scholars celebrate a different author each month. Laura Ingalls Wilder is the February author of the month. Celebrating Valentine’s Day
A Little Sharks Cheer Camp, hosted by the Iroquois/Lake Preston girls basketball cheerleaders, was held in Iroquois on Sat., Feb. 4 from 3-7 p.m. They performed their routine between the junior varsity and varsity games. A hot dog meal was served to cheer camp participants.

Twenty-four Iroquois Elementary School students received the top read-a-thon prize of "Pizza with the Principal" by reading at least 350 minutes during the Read-A-Thon two-week period. Those students were treated to a pizza party with elementary principal Mike Ruth on Tues., Nov. 22. Fire Pit Pizzeria of Huron, S.D., donated all the pizzas for the party.

Learning about Thanksgiving
Rosalie Wehlander represented Iroquois High School at the 2022 Augustana Festival of Bands. She was part of the Gold band, one of the top two of four festival bands this year. The festival was held on Nov. 11-12, culminating in a concert Saturday evening at the Washington Pavilion.
