An 8th grade commencement

Greetings from Esmond to all new and regular readers of this column. We provide reports from Esmond Township, Belle Prairie and surrounding areas, and wish the people of De Smet and Lake Preston success in their adventure into journalism.

The virus kept visiting and events to a minimum, but some movement has started back up.

Adeline Reilly had visits from her daughters Kathy and Pat and their families on Mother’s Day.

Rick and Vicki Aughenbaugh had lunch with their son Cory on Thursday in Sioux Falls.

The Esmond Homecoming Sunday scheduled for June has been cancelled, and the Iroquois American Legion Memorial Day services will also not be held.

An 8th Grade Commencement program for Rosalie Wehlander was held Saturday May 16, at the Esmond Hall. The program consisted of a processional, introductions, welcome by her sister Hannah, commencement address by her brother Erik, conferring of degrees by her dad and mom and closing remarks by her dad. She received 2nd place in the American Legion Essay Contest and was awarded Iroquois Middle School Vocalist of the Year. The event was attended by family members.

Congratulations to all graduates at every level.
