Spirit Lake Presbyterian Church held their Sunday Morning Service outside.

Jim Hulbert spoke on the One Great Hour of Sharing which was received. He said offerings were used to places of disaster and remained until they were sufficient. Also, the money from the offerings helped the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

Pentecost was also observed. Beautiful Sunday, warm but a gentle breeze. Birds singing and flying around, butterflies fluttered about. A farmer across the road feeding cattle and another with a loaded feed truck headed to feed his herd. All God’s Creation as we experience the Holy Spirit’s presence on this Pentecostal Day.

Baltimore Orioles and Hummingbirds found our feeders this week. The finches are a little scarce. Bird watching out our window is a favorite pastime. I have noticed lots of Blue Jays and even a Brow Thrush, and an abundance of Black Birds and Robins.

With the rain we received the corn that was planted really made a showing. All the watering one does cannot replace a gentle rainfall.

Cork and Illdena Poppen visited Dorothy and Craig Haught of rural Willow Lake, Sunday evening.

Word has been received of the death of Kenneth Pearson, husband of Darlene (Johnson) Pearson, Burnsville, Minnesota Tuesday May 25th. Darlene is the sister of Illdena Poppen. The funeral has been scheduled for Sat., June 5, at 11 a.m. at Peace reformed Church in Eagan, Minn.

Illdena and Cork Poppen attended the one-year celebration of the “Kingsbury Journal”, at the news office, Monday. Good attendance. May the next year be as successful.

I noticed the new flower planters on Main Street in De Smet. Great!
