The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Flandreau on Tues., Feb 9. The Fliers demonstrated a wide array of offensive attacks that night. They had threats from outside and were also quick to drive the lane and draw the foul, which resulted in some Lady Bulldogs in foul trouble the first half. De Smet was able to make some big stops defensively and come back down, working the ball in the lane for a few baskets.
The Fliers came out aggressively the second half, and De Smet wasn't able to get much going right away. The Lady Bulldogs were able to shut down one of Flandreau’s main players, making them work hard for their points, but De Smet still came up short offensively.
Kennadi Buchholz led the Bulldog effort with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Mackenzie Zell contributed 19 points and 10 rebounds.
Flandreau was led by Bella Pavlis with 15 points.
The Lady Bulldogs JV lost 19-40.

In their fourth game for the week, De Smet hosted the Howard Tigers on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 13. The Lady Bulldogs did an excellent job defensively against a good Tiger basketball team. They were able to shut down Howard’s big post players and hold them to single digits on the board. The Tigers fought back on both ends of the court to keep this game going back and forth. The Lady Bulldogs did a great job of working the ball around and taking some time to look for the open shot.
It was tremendous teamwork by De Smet offensively, achieving a 22-point run in the fourth quarter to put seven players on the board for the game. Defensively, they only allowed the Tigers eight points during that quarter.
Along with a great win for Lady Bulldogs basketball, during the fourth quarter, junior Kennadi Buchholz was fouled and sent to the line for two free throws. After making the first free throw, she was recognized for her 1000th career point. Congratulations, Kennadi!
The Lady Bulldogs were led by Buchholz with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Howard was led by Kenedy Koepsell with 11 points.
The Lady Bulldogs JV won 43-39 in an exciting game as well.
