The Lady Bulldogs, along with eleven other schools, played a full day of volleyball at the Clark Tournament on Sat., Sept. 11. The first round included three teams in a pool; round two was three pools of four.
De Smet was pooled with Waverly/South Shore and Florence/Henry. The Bulldogs won 2-0 over Waverly/South Shore to start the day. They were led by Kennadi Buchholz with 13 kills, three aces, four digs, Emma Albrecht with four kills, nine assists, two aces and Cori Birkel with four kills and five digs.
De Smet came up short 0-2 against an undefeated Florence/Henry team. Leaders were Buchholz with seven kills, one ace, three digs, one block and Albrecht with one kill, four assists and three digs.
After first-round games were completed, teams were reseeded, and the Bulldogs landed in the Silver pool with Britton-Hecla, Webster and Great Plains Lutheran.
The Lady Bulldogs took to the court against Webster, winning 2-0. Buchholz again led with nine kills, four digs and eight blocks; Jada Burke added six kills and seven digs, and Albrecht contributed six assists, four digs and four blocks.
De Smet played Great Plains Lutheran for the championship game of the Silver Division and fell short in two very close sets of good volleyball, 0-2. The Bulldogs were led by Buchholz with nine kills, five digs, five blocks, Albrecht with four kills, five assists, two digs, two blocks and Burke with three kills and seven digs.
