Church meeting held outdoors

The Spirit Lake Presbyterian Church has drive up services at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays. Services are broadcast on 88.1 F.M. and livestreamed on Facebook. Adult Sunday School classes are at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays and confirmation classes are at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. The Rev. Dick Poppen speaks each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. on KWAT Radio.

The annual congregational meeting was held outdoors following last Sunday’s services — a first. Dianne Larson was elected elder; Susan Geib, deacon; Kathy Poppen, clerk of congregation; Patrick Poppen, Ann Glanzer and Kathy Poppen, nominating committee; Derick Larson, head usher; and Dianne Larson and Vickie Gronewald, auditing.

Duane Poppen of Aberdeen stopped Sunday for a visit with his parents, the Cork Poppen’s, and last Monday, they had a visit from Illdena’s brother, Terry Johnson of Wasilla, Alaska.

The weather sure can change in a hurry. For a day or so we have a lot of snow — then the sun comes out, and, at this writing, most of it is gone —proving that South Dakota has all kinds of weather!

A salute to all of our veterans!
