Memorial Service for David Lyle Orr, 63, of Lake Preston, was held at 11:00 a.m., Mon., Sept. 13, 2021, at Carlsen Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Gary Compton officiated. The service was live streamed and is available at www.carlsenfh.com under David’s obituary.
David died Sept. 2, 2021, at his home.
David Lyle Orr, son of Lyle “Tuffy” and Betty (Harrington) Orr, was born July 26, 1958, in Miller, S.D. He grew up in Wessington and Aberdeen, S.D., graduating from Aberdeen Central High School with the class of 1976. He worked for Larson Concrete for a few years. He then started trucking long haul for Thorstenson Trucking based out of Selby, S.D.
David was united in marriage to Joann in 1991. While they were married, they were co-drivers for many years. In 2011, David moved to Lake Preston. Due to health issues, he was unable to work for the past several years.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In his younger years, he liked to go hunting and fishing. Over the years, David collected coins and knives.
Grateful for having shared David’s life are his son, Zach (Marlene) Orr of Onalaska, Wisc.; four grandchildren, Zoey Orr, Ashley Swanson, Teresa Venables and Briana Houston; three great-grandchildren, Kenzie, Bryson and Ryley; brother-in-law, Ray Huber of Aberdeen; two nieces, Kim Mills and Samantha Huber, both of Aberdeen and two great-nieces, Isabel and Kiera Mills.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Denise Huber.
