The Lake Preston Divers went 2-2 at the Clark Tournament this past weekend. The Lady Divers came out strong, taking the first set against Redfield but were not able to keep the momentum against the talented Redfield team and lost the final two sets. Webster was the third team in their tough pool of three. The Bearcats had just lost in three to Redfield and were hungry for a win. They beat the Divers in two sets.
Their pool play put them in the Bronze Division as the fourth seed, playing against first seeded Wilmot. They beat Wilmot in three sets 25-17, 13-25 and 25-21, and then faced the Deuel Cardinals and beat them in two quick sets 17-25 and 15-25. Those crucial wins made them champions of the Bronze Division.
On Tuesday, the Divers lost in three set to the Castlewood Lady Warriors: 10-25, 22-25, and 13-25. The Warriors were on fire from the start and did not cool off until mid-way through the second set where the Divers made a strong comeback. It was not enough to hold off Castlewood, and they ultimately won that set and the final one in a decisive victory. The offensive leader on the evening for the Divers was senior Morgan Curd with nine kills. Annika Nelson was also on the board with four kills. Nelson also contributed with one serving ace along with Jocelyn Steffensen. Defensively, Ava Malone contributed with eleven digs and Nelson and Faith Steffensen helped with nine a piece.
On Thursday, the Divers will take a road trip to face the Colman-Egan Hawks.
