Fourth of July: 1910-style

Marlin and Jeanette Clendening attended the 4th of July parade held Saturday in Woonsocket and then were dinner guests of Mike and Perianne with all the Woonsocket families. On Sunday they were guests of Jeff and Gena Clendening for a noon gathering.

The Bornitz families spent the 4th of July weekend in the Black Hills.

Rick and Vicki Aughenbaugh had as supper guests Friday evening Gordie and Marilyn Skyberg, Rita Anderson and Gene and Joanne Schlueter.

Lee and Annette Dunham recently helped with the nonstop motorcycle poker run when it went through Iroquois.

History Note

1910 – Esmond issued an invitation to join them for the 4th of July celebration; three ball games resulted in Esmond beating Pearl Creek two times and winning their game against Iroquois 7-6. A tennis match against Manchester was won by Esmond; the day had wrestling matches, and the Esmond Coronet Band provided music for the day.
