Students at Iroquois participated in a school-wide reading incentive program once again this school year. Each classroom teacher set individual and/or class reading goals. Once goals were met, various prizes were awarded including books, school supplies, food-related coupons, class parties, class trips and even specialized signs as shown above.
If you google your way through studies on reading scores and statistics, not only in our country but across the world, you will soon realize reading and the ability to read is declining. The overall goal of the incentivized program is to increase reading throughout the school year and to get students hooked on books to create a life-long love for reading.
Iroquois staff and students wish to graciously thank the many businesses who contribute to this challenge: Iroquois American Bank and Trust, Northwestern Public Service, Godfathers, Casey’s and DQ all of Huron, Lyle Signs of De Smet and the many individuals who donate for this cause each year.
