Word has been received of the death of Rev. Stanford Sutton of New Jersey. He passed away on April 22, 2020. Rev. Sutton was the minister at the Bancroft Orthodox Presbyterian Church and the Manchester Church in the 70’s for a few years. He served in Ohio, Maine and New Jersey. Rev. Sutton served as a pastor for 48 years, retiring in 2013. He was also an instructor at the New York School of the Bible in Manhattan, N.Y.

With Father’s Day this Sunday, I’d like to tell you a little bit about my dad’s dad, Ed Currier, who lived in Osceola just across the street from the grocery store. He liked to trap and fish, and he really liked to garden. He always had a large garden, and it always did very well for him.

I am not sure he ever ate any of the produce himself. You see, he planted all these vegetables for other people. I remember some kids coming over to his garden one day when I was there, and they were taking all kinds of vegetables home. He had told all the kids in the neighborhood to come and get whatever kinds of vegetables they wanted, so I guess he was way ahead of his time.

Now, I hear of people planting gardens and sharing with neighbors and friends because of the coronavirus. Grandpa just liked to garden and got a lot of satisfaction in helping others through the years. Happy Father’s Day Grandpa Ed, and thanks for your generosity.
