‘Take one step at a time’

Koden Elkins, a son of Roberta Elkins and the late Gerald Elkins, is a member of the De Smet High School class of 2021. He has two sisters, Kearra and Kendra Elkins.

Elkins’s favorite subject in school is ag metal fabrication, and his most memorable experience at DHS was meeting his teachers on the first day of high school.

He said his grandmother had a big influence on his life.

“She was always there to help anyone, and she would form bonds with the random tourists that she would meet,” he said.

“Take one step at a time. High school is just the start of your adult life,” is the advice Elkins gives to underclassmen.

Leisure activities he has participated in during his high school years include golf, Esports, trap-shooting, hunting, fishing and driving around with a bunch of people. His future plans include attending South Dakota State University in Brookings to study aviation and eventually become a pilot for Delta Airlines.
