We’ve been trying to get into a routine of having at least one day to relax, and I have to say it’s nice to be able to look forward to Sundays. The rest of the week is busy, but it’s worth packing everything in knowing Sunday is just around the corner.
Last weekend was a busy one. Both Josh and I ended up working at Grumpy’s Friday for about ten hours. It was steak night, and we had a great crowd who were thirsty. We were jumping to keep up with everyone, but it was fun working together.
We had planned on getting up early Saturday to go to my parents’ house in Dell Rapids, but after our long night at Grumpy’s, neither of us was ready to get up as early as we had hoped. We ended up leaving a couple hours later than planned and had to stop in Brookings to get our COVID boosters, and then I also got my Influenza shot.
When we got to my parent’s house, my mom had lasagna and another casserole waiting. They were both delicious, so we both overindulged. Then, she brought out cookies and cupcakes, which put us over the top.
I think we were both ready for a nap, but we went there to help my dad put a humidifier on the furnace, so there was no time to waste. Josh did the majority of the work with my dad talking him through it, and I was there to assist in handing tools and holding things when needed. It was a lot of work, but we got it all done.
Then Sunday, we were able to relax. We slept in and stayed in our PJs all day. We watched some great football games and caught up on some other shows we had recorded. It was a great way to recharge for another busy week ahead.
This week I’m sharing a great recipe for soft and chewy oatmeal cookies. The honey helps them retain moisture and stay soft, and the M&Ms make them more appetizing for little ones. Enjoy!
