1922: Long, hot summer

Annette and Charemon Dunham attended the American Legion Auxiliary meeting Sept. 22 in Iroquois. On Sept. 24, they visited the Loren and Teresa (Larson) Matson’s in Mitchell. On Sept. 25, they attended the District 6 American Legion meeting held in Arlington. Charemon, Annette and Leo Dunham conducted the military rights Saturday at the Gary Olmstead services.

The Clendenings and Lori and Rosalie Wehlander went to Mitchell Saturday for the Dakota Wesleyan University homecoming game and other limited homecoming activities.

History Note

The Sept. 7, 1922 issue of the Esmond Booster reported that they were hoping the hot spell of the last month would soon be broken and that Les Clendening had started his threshing run and ended it 57 days later without a shower of rain.
