Spirit Lake News

Along with a timely poem

Spirit Lake Presbyterian Church services were canceled last week because of weather and road conditions, but the church normally offers both drive-up and in-church services at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday. Services are broadcast on 88.1 F.M. radio and livestreamed on Facebook.

Adult Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. Youth pick up their lessons.

Confirmation classes are at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.

The annual church meeting is scheduled for Nov. 8 following services.

The Rev. Dick Poppen speaks at 9:35 a.m. Sundays over KWAT radio.

Gordon and Chrystal Poppen of Sioux Falls picked up his parents, Cork and Illdena Poppen last Tuesday and brought them back to their home for Cork’s doctor appointment on Wednesday. Janice Stoebner met them and drove her parents back home.

It was predicted we would get a lot of snow,
And temperatures would reach an all-time low.
We are never quite ready for such wintry days,
But Mother Nature says we must follow her ways.
With Halloween gone by and trick-or-treaters on their way,
If COVID wouldn’t dampen that fun-filled day,
The clock turns back and daylight saving has passed
So, we continue our days with our faces masked.
