The week began with a home game against Clark/Willow Lake. The gym was extremely hot, which made for timeouts in front of the fans to give the girls some relief.
The Bulldogs started slowly, not returning serves and not moving to the ball. After losing the first set, the Bulldogs worked together, playing their game, to get the win on the night.
Leaders for De Smet were Kennadi Buchholz with 21 kills, seven blocks, 11 digs, four ace serves; Jada Burke with 10 kills, nine digs, two ace serves; Cori Birkel with two kills, six blocks, nine digs, one ace serve and Emma Albrecht with two kills, 11 assist kills, four blocks, nine digs and four ace serves.
During the second home game of the week on Thurs., Sept. 30, the Bulldogs took on the Redhawks from Estelline/Hendricks.
Again, the Bulldogs started the first set slowly in a hot and humid gym, but they dug out of the hole and just fell short of getting the win. After coming up short in the first set, De Smet took charge and started aggressively swinging at the ball; the Redhawks were unable to stop them.
Leaders for De Smet were Kennadi Buchholz with 14 kills, seven blocks, nine digs, two ace serves; Jada Burke with five kills, 14 digs, two ace serves; Cori Birkel with five kills, eight blocks, nine digs and Emma Albrecht with two kills, 12 assist kills, four blocks, three digs and one ace serve.
