Dianna Louise Hein


Dianna Louise Hein, 76, of Sioux Falls and formerly Arlington, died Sun., Aug. 7, 2022, at her home in Sioux Falls.

Dianna Louise (Bemis) Hein was born Dec. 9, 1946, in Huron, S.D., to Melvin and Ruby (Kowalke) Bemis. She grew up and attended school at Iroquois, S.D., and then Huron College. On Nov. 4, 1967, she married James Hein. They lived in Cavour, S.D. and then Arlington, S.D. She was the secretary of the Lutheran Church and drove bus for the school. They later moved to Sioux Falls, living there 10 years, where she continued to drive bus for the Sioux Falls School District. They moved back to Arlington in 2012 for their retirement years. They enjoyed traveling, buying a house in Texas for the winter months. Upon Jim’s passing in April, she moved back to Sioux Falls, closer to family.

She is survived by two daughters, Melinda (Paul) Bommersbach and Kristy (Dan) Husby and two sons, Tim (Tammy) Hein, all of Sioux Falls, S.D, Mike Lynn from Aberdeen, S.D.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; mother, Ruby Bemis from Brookings, S.D.; two sisters, Debra (Ron) Zielke from Fargo, N.D. and Dorinda (Dan) Raushcher from Brookings, S.D.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hein; father, Melvin Bemis and sister, Denise Gebur.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thurs., Aug. 11, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arlington. Burial will be in the De Smet Cemetery, De Smet, S.D. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wed., Aug. 10, 2022, at the Johnson-Henry Funeral Home in Arlington and in the church preceding services.
