The Iroquois FFA Chapter competed in District 2 Leadership Development Events. There were students competing from 12 different schools in the area. Iroquois students did a fantastic job representing the chapter well, bringing home two 1st place awards and one 3rd place award.
The Ag Issues team of Katie Dubro, Harley Nelson, Sierra Kogel, Kaylee Morehead, Lily Blue, Lexi Burma and Logan Pekron placed 1st in their event. Their presentation was based on the health differences of animal-based meat and plant-based meat.
Kaylee Morehead placed 1st in Prepared Public Speaking with her topic of "Teen's Healthy Habits." She also placed 3rd place in Employment Skills, a contest that involves completing a job application, resume, cover letter, job interview and thank you letter.
Rebecca Bich and Satoya Myers competed in the Creed Speaking contest. In this contest they memorize the five paragraphs of the FFA Creed and recite it to the judges. After the recitation, they are asked questions based on the Creed. They did not place in the top 3 but did very well in their contest.
Congratulations to all the students who participated. The Ag Issues team will be advancing to the state contest as well as Kaylee Morehead in both Prepared Public Speaking and Employment Skills. The state contest will be held virtually in Dec. and Jan.
