• Goals for this year:

My goal is to spark my students' love of learning while continuing to learn myself. I’m so humbled by this opportunity.

• Where are you from?

I am from our beautiful little town on the prairie, De Smet.

• Have you taught before?

I’ve been running in-home childcare, Stephie’s Place Kids, since graduating from SDSU with my Early Childhood degree in December 2005. I’ve had the blessing of being a momma, partnering with local families and watching many of our Bulldogs grow up achieving age-appropriate learning outcomes while in my care.

For the elementary education piece of my degree, I completed my student teaching in the kindergarten classroom with Mrs. Barb Madison in Iroquois. DHS also provided me with experience working in Mrs. Kathy Aughenbaugh’s classroom while still in high school, treasured time that has fueled the last 20 plus years of my passion working with early learners.

• Family/Spouse/Children:

Alex Botkin, my husband, is the production manager at CMI Architectural. Together, we have four children: Payton, sophomore; Jordan, 8th grader; Kylan, 2nd grader and Elliana, our 3-year-old.
