Headed to Junior High National Finals Rodeo


Tucker Hughes, Belle Fourche, qualified for the Junior High School National Finals Rodeo in Perry, Ga., held June 19-25, 2022. The 14-year-old competed against competitors from all 50 states as well as Canada, Mexico and Australia. Hughes placed 4th in Saddle Bronc Steer Riding at the state finals, which qualified him for nationals. Attending the nationals was an amazing experience, and he is very grateful for the opportunity.

Hughes has been in rodeo for years, riding sheep, steers, bulls and now saddle steers. He is looking forward to riding saddle broncs next year in high school rodeo.

Hughes is the son of Jeff and Jenlyn Hughes, Belle Fourche, and grandson of Todd and Cindy Larsen, Belle Fourche, great-grandma Darlene Larsen and great-grandma Dee (Lentsch) Poppen.
