Ask any Iroquois preschooler the difference between an oviparous animal and a viviparous animal. They can tell you, as this was part of their study of chickens and eggs within their farm unit. The preschool class set eggs in an incubator and kept track of the days and the development of the chicks. Hatching day was a fascinating experience for the children. They kept close watch throughout the day. In all, they successfully hatched nine baby chicks. Above, Easton Jacob watches as chicks start to hatch.
