It was a day to be spoiled, but not rotten

Posted

I hope everyone enjoyed the Mother’s Day weekend. I was spoiled by my husband and daughter and then able to spend a great day with my mom on Sunday.

My husband Josh asked what I wanted for Mother’s Day, so I showed him a garden kneeler/seat that would be helpful when working outside this summer in the garden and flower beds.

He surprised me by coming home with the kneeler I asked for plus some string lights for outside and a super cute gnome birdhouse.

My daughter Alyssa sent a cute ceramic candle holder with extra candles. Then, she surprised me again the next day, when I was delivered a beautiful purple orchid that I absolutely love. She definitely outdid herself and made me feel special.

Sunday, I decided to spend the day with my mom. I drove to my parents’ house in Dell Rapids that afternoon, and after visiting for a while, I suggested we make a road trip to Sioux Falls and check out a green house. Mom loved the idea, so Dad drove us to Fleet Farm, where my mom and I enjoyed several hours looking through all of the plants and flowers.

We ended up filling the back of their vehicle with all of our finds. Mom found several flowers and plants for herself, and she helped me pick out a bunch of vegetables for my garden, along with over a flat of flowers for myself.

We ended our day going to Pizza Ranch in Dell Rapids, where mothers got to eat free; they surprised us by giving each a carnation.

When I got home, Josh surprised me with two cute ceramic frog statues to put outside and a cake he had made himself. I was definitely spoiled and had a wonderful Mother’s Day.

This week I’m sharing a great recipe for chocolate cake. Now that I have a kitchen again, I enjoy spending time in it. For Brody’s birthday I decided to skip the normal box cake mix and try this recipe. It turned out really moist and delicious. Enjoy!
