The Lake Preston Diver Volleyball Team lost in three sets to the Clark-Willow Lake Cyclones last Tuesday night in Lake Preston. The first set looked as though it could go either way, but ultimately, the Cyclones came out on top 25-17. The Divers came out looking to gain ground against the Cyclones in the second set, with some hard-fought volleys. Unfortunately, it was not enough to get past Clark-Willow Lake and they lost the second set 23-25. The Divers could not get rolling in the third set and lost that set 13-25.
Jocelyn Steffensen was the serving leader with two aces against the Cyclones. Annika Nelson led the team in kills with six, with Alice Warne and Faith Steffensen each adding two kills. Nelson was credited with five blocks and Warne with two. Ava Malone was the dig leader with sixteen, and Jocelyn Steffensen brought in fourteen digs.
In Monday’s match-up, the Divers hosted the Warbirds from Wolsey-Wessington. The Divers struggled to gain momentum against the Warbirds and lost all three sets. There were three serving aces on the night with Marissa Rober, Morgan Curd and Malone each with one. Offensively for the Divers, Faith Steffensen, Rober and Curd each added a kill a piece to the stat sheet with Holly Andrews credited with the set assist for each one. The Divers defense brought in blocks from Warne and Faith Steffensen. Digging leaders on the evening were Libero Jocelyn Steffensen with twelve followed by Rober with eleven and Malone with ten.
The Divers fall to 0-12 on the season and look to gain a win against Great Plains Lutheran in Watertown Tuesday night before returning home to face Dell Rapids St. Mary at home.
