Leona Fay Brandner, age 88, passed away at Foundation Cottage on May 8, 2021, after a short illness. She was married to Vaughn Brandner and lived in the Lake Preston/De Smet area throughout her life. After her husband passed away in 1983, she moved to her current home in Lake Preston. Leona attended school in Lake Preston.
She had several jobs in the local area, but what she enjoyed most was volunteering at the elementary school in Lake Preston.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn; her parents, Alfred and Olga Thompson; her in-laws, Frank and Clara Brandner; her siblings and their spouses, Roy and Gladys Anderson, Ray and Mavis Crandall, Pat and Marvel O’Connell and Dwain Thompson; her in-laws, Dennis Brandner, Dick and Colletta Brandner, Jack and Marcine Hendrickson.
She is survived by her children, Bonnie (Rod) Anderson of Lake Preston, Donald Brandner of Lake Preston, Kathy (Bob DeStefano) Siefken of Lincoln, Neb. and Deonne (Randy) Williams of Piedmont; a sister-in-law, Arlene Thompson; a brother-in-law, David (Suzy) Brandner; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
At her request a private family celebration of life and private family burial will be held.
