Leona Peskey recently celebrated her 100th birthday. On Aug. 22, a party to honor this milestone was held outside at the Good Samaritan Society in De Smet, S.D. Peskey’s two sons, Dennis (Janet) and Dean (Marlys), all five grandchildren and all but three of her great-grandchildren were able to enjoy the day with her.
Special guests were Velda Zeeck, her longtime friend, and her son Douglas and wife Mona of Cavour.
Born August 31, 1921, on the farm south of Cavour to Anna and Ernest
Kopplin, Leona was known for her huge garden and excellent cooking and for being the best mother.
In October of 1941, Leona married Hillard Peskey, and they lived most of their married life south of Cavour.
A card shower was held in her honor. Cards may be sent to the Good Samaritan Society in De Smet.
