Do not miss local opportunity!

There was an incredibly good concert at the De Smet Event Center this last week. It was Shaun Johnson who sings with the nation-wide touring group Tonic Sol Fa. Seven very accomplished musicians accompanied him for the big band sound that was advertised. The piano player was also a member of Tonic Sol-Fa, and if I remember right, I paid $90 to see them in Sioux Falls a couple of years ago. They are still just as good. There was a lot of variety, and I think anyone of any music genre would have enjoyed the concert. There were a lot of out-of-town people from as far as Huron and Mitchell. As I watched and listened to the concert, I actually felt bad for other De Smet people I know who were not there – they missed a great performance.

I know many of us pay big dollars to attend a concert at the State Fair or in Brookings or Sioux Falls, but we miss out on the really entertaining concerts here at home. The old saying “the grass is greener on the other side of the fence” goes for many of us, and we fail to immerse ourselves in the opportunities right here in town. This was the last concert of this season, but be sure to keep watching locally when wanting some fun and entertainment. The Kingsbury Journal is a good place to look for your next opportunity.
