We are NOT all God’s children

Posted

A common phrase I have heard over the years is "We are all God's children." This statement has been said time and time again with the intention of bringing everyone together. While it is true that we are all God's creation, it is also true that we are not all God's children. This lie tends to give so many who do not know Christ a false sense of security in their eternity. When we make this blanket statement, we take away from the personal responsibility that is made clear through Scripture.

"Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." John 8:44

Christ was speaking to a group of individuals who were so caught up in their religion that they did not even realize they were spiritually dead. If everyone was a child of God, Christ would have been telling a lie when He told these men that their father was the devil. Knowing that Christ is sinless and perfect, He was stating the truth. These men who rejected Christ were still dead in their sin, not living in the family of God.

"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." John 3:3

The man that Christ was speaking to here was very confused about the concept of being born again. He was thinking of a physical birth while Christ was referring to a spiritual birth. Scripture makes it clear that when we come into this world, we are spiritually dead. The sin nature we are born with is what separates us from God. The same message Jesus told Nicodemus in John chapter three is the same message I share today; you must be born again!

"As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:" Romans 3:10

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Romans 3:23

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth in him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:9-13

To place your trust in Christ and Christ alone, you are brought into new life through the sacrifice Christ made on Calvary. His blood is more than sufficient to cleanse you of all unrighteousness. Over in Romans chapter eight we are told that, when we are born again, we receive the Spirit of adoption. After calling on Christ as your Savior, you are then made part of the family of God! We become His sons and daughters, therefore heirs with Christ! So, while we are not all God's children, you can become one of His today! Place your trust in Him!
